The course will focus on non-physical intervention techniques on managing and de-escalating potentially violent incidents within the work environment.

Train the Trainer

One of a manager’s most important functions is the development and training of the team. Sometimes this is done directly by the manager, at other times it is carried out by others, but the manager still has a significant role to play. This three day intensive and practical workshop is designed to develop managers’ skills in training their staff and covers all aspects of the process from identifying needs, through development of materials and delivery of instruction, presentations, and group activities, to evaluation.

Leading People Through Change

This 1.5 day programme addresses the issues and problems surrounding change and its’ impact on people. We will look at the ways in which you can manage your people to achieve the change most effectively, and reduce any negative impact on them (and on yourself!). We will also consider the tools and techniques for stimulating and achieving continuous improvement, and how to encourage creativity and innovation in team members.

Managing the Customer Interface

This 1.5 day workshop is aimed at managers and supervisors throughout the organisation and has been designed to ensure that every employee works in such a way as to add value for the customer and enable continuous improvement. Without customers an organisation cannot exist. But customers change as do their needs. To continue to satisfy their needs, the organisation must adapt, improve, and grow. It must also pay particular attention to its employees at all levels – not just those who deal directly with the customer.

Building and Working in Teams

This 1.5 day programme explores the characteristics of effective teams and the factors which managers and supervisors need to focus on to ensure that the team functions efficiently. It addresses the issues and problems of building and leading teams, from adding a new member to the team, through team development to team repair and restructuring.

Handling People Performance Problems

This 1.5 day programme explores the difficulty in balancing the need to set and maintain standards of behaviour required by the organisation with the individual rights of employees. We will look at difficult situations such as absence and poor performance, as well as broader principles such as rights and responsibilities, dignity at work, harassment and bullying.

Diversity Awareness and Impact Assessment in Local Government

Local authorities have a vital role to play in eliminating discrimination, breaking down barriers preventing people from accessing services, and improving the quality of life for the people of the borough. This course has been designed to help managers update their knowledge of equality and diversity. It will examine the ways in which managers can translate policy to action, set and maintain standards of behaviour, and fulfil their responsibilities in respect of employment, service delivery, and carrying out public functions.
