Many small or new organisations do not have the experience or documents required to cope with taking on staff. Pet&r can provide a complete service in this area from looking at what the job requires, through to the first few weeks of employment.
We will help you work in sets with others to look at what you do and how you perform in the workplace. Through a series of questions we will help you reflect and review so you can improve performance
Lynne Hammond MA has worked in the field of Environmental Education for over 20 years and is able to offer a variety of services from simple hands-on workshops, teacher INSET work, to detailed education packs on specific topics or locations. Past work has included 6 topic based education packs for Nature’s World environmental centre, an environmental play pack and CD for Tees Valley Wildlife Trust and a full primary school education pack for the Durham Heritage Coast.
Education pack production includes initial discussion meetings, site visits, research and development as well as full production. All packs show National Curriculum cross subject links and include paper based and outdoor activities.Packs are individually costed as required and a price agreed at the start of the project.
Workshops are hands-on, fit with the requirements of the National Curriculum and above all fun. Each workshop can be tailored to particular requirements and class needs.
Minibeasts - Reception to Y6 - 1hr
This workshop looks at how minibeasts are adapted to the way they live including why woodlice are flat and worms thin and slimy. This is done using hands on observation, experimentation and role play. We also look at the differences between millipedes and centipedes using a class race. We bring in the minibeasts from our own compost heap as well as some Giant African Land Snails to look closer at snails.
Weather - Y4,5,6 - 1hr
This workshop looks at the common types of weather and how they are represented by weatermen and how they make us feel. The main part of the workshop involves making weather measuring equipment from recycled materials and then trying them out in the field.
Waste - Y4,5,6 and Y7,8 - 1hr
This workshop looks at the amount of waste we produce and what types there are. It looks at what can be done to reduce the amount of waste we produce and what can be done with different components of a typical bin. It also includes a discussion of what happens to our waste.
How Does Your Garden Grow? - Y4,5,6 - 1hr
This workshop looks at what plants are and how they live. It starts by looking at the parts of a plant and how they get their food using the Photosynthesis Factory. The workshop continues to look at different soil requirements plants need using actual plants and what compost is and how it is made. The workshop ends by looking at why plants produce so many seeds using a simple card game.
Chains of Life - Y4,5,6 - 1hr
This workshop introduces the concepts of food chains and webs. First we look at how the length of a food chain affects the amount of energy at the end of the chain using a bucket game. Secondly we look at a simple food web and its interactions using a chase game which also introduces the concept of pyramid of numbers. We also look at what happens to a web when different components are removed. Finally we look at why plants and animals produce so many seeds and eggs using a simple card game.
Café International Primary - Y4,5,6 - 1hr
This workshop looks at what foods we eat and where they come from. The workshop starts by looking at the foods we need to live and why we need them. The pupils then have a chance to design a healthy meal from a set of ingredients from around the world. They then have to find out where each ingredient comes from and remove all non British items from their menu and discuss what is left.
We have experience in organising a wide variety of events including small meetings, in-house training programmes, away day events, residential training or strategy events, public consultations and conferences.
We believe the secrets of event management to be attention to detail and forward planning. We personally check out venues, create effective contingency plans, and ensure that we have sufficient presence on the day to make the event flow smoothly. Project costs are individually worked out to take into account the size and needs of the event. With Pet&r there are no hidden costs or complicated bills. We agree up front what we will be responsible for and set an overall fee for the package.
Pet&r also offers 2 training courses on Event Management. For more details please see our Training section.
Many businesses are not in a position to have their own HR department. One way to overcome this is to out-source your HR function on a retainer basis so you can get the expertise you need, when you need it. We offer a retainer service for fifty pounds an hour for a minimum of 3 hours a month. This means that for less than five pounds a day you can have access to our HR advisory service covering recruitment services, hours of work and legislative issues, policy development and implementation, people problems etc. Extra time is available at fifty pounds an hour charged in fifteen minute chunks. For more information contact Lynne at lynne@petandr.co.uk
From single project monitoring to multi-project evaluations, Pet&r has experience in a wide range of monitoring and evaluation techniques.
