Level 5 Award in Leadership & Management – Residential
This course is designed for practising middle managers to help them develop their skills and experience, improve performance and prepare for senior management responsibilities. The Award consists of 2 units Becoming an effective leader and Managing improvement.
Topics covered include:
Responsibilities of leaders Leadership theories and styles
Own leadership abilities Social awareness and empathy
Relationship management Self leadership and development
Communication Motivation, delegation and empowerment
Quality systems Total quality management
Quality and customers Benchmarking
Improvement plans
Course format
All induction information will be available 1 week prior to the start of the course via a designated Dropbox folder. This folder will be added to throughout the course to ensure all participants have full access to all materials used.
Prior to the course you will do the ILM72, MTQ48 and Leadership styles questionnaires to assess your current leadership status. After 6 months you will re-do the ILM72 to assess your development
In addition to the workshop time, you will need to do an additional 2hrs self study per unit. You will also need to successfully complete 2 unit assessments to gain the Award.
Each participant will receive a total of 3hrs tutorial support provided during and after the residential.

Course format
The course will be delivered over 6 2hr Zoom sessions, 3 sessions per unit, with the last session of each unit being a summary of the content of the unit and assessment guidance. The sessions are delivered 4 weeks apart.
